I would much rather stock up ahead of time like a squirrel saving for winter and when it's time to unpack I can concentrate in the important things.
People say that before you move you should de-clutter your current residence, throw out everything you don't need, and not buy anything else until you've moved into your new place. I am of the opposite mentality. I say get excited! Buy the things that inspire you to move even more so that when it is time to unpack in the new home you can be enthused about opening boxes and organizing your belongings. Who wants to move into a new place and already have a list of things they have to get? Not me, that's for certain. I would much rather stock up ahead of time like a squirrel saving for winter and when it's time to unpack I can concentrate in the important things. Like where will the sectional go or do I need three or four favorite lipsticks in that gold jar I bought three months ago?
Homesense is great for picking up both small and large items if you're looking to decorate your new digs or simply refresh what you already have. Since we still don't know where we'll end up in a few months space wise my shopping trips revolve mainly around small details for design and organization. I'm happy to say that after including the following finds from the recent spree I am only two or three shopping trips away from the perfect move in.
Elements of Style by Erin Gates: Not only a great addition to the office book collection but will offer a lot of ideas for decoration in the new place. It is always fine to spend money on education.
Acrylic Jewelry Organizer: I am on my fourth purchase of these. My first two are the same size and drawer count and I have delegated one to jewelry (because I have too much of it) and one to my go to everyday makeup. The other one is smaller with four compartments and I use this to hold my favorite watches.
Pineapple Shaped Soap Dish with gold detail and matching cup: These will not be used in the bathroom, they are much too pretty. I will instead be using the cup to hold my pens in the office and the dish for my plain silver rings collection.
Write Journal: Also with gold detailing so perfect to go in the office where everything else will be gilded in one way or another. Who doesn't need a journal that tells them to write?
Silver Textured Frame: I'll definitely need to add some home touches to my new work area so a collection of frames in different sizes will be perched on a shelf above the desk. This is the last one I will be adding and the smallest one at that. I just couldn't resist the cuteness this will add when it is filled with a teeny picture.
